In the design of the building of the State Bank of Czechoslovakia on Dunajská Street, architect Karol Paluš was able to skillfully combine several different functions in a relatively compact form. The bank's operations, situated in a two-storey ground floor, were expanded to include, in addition to the usual services, a computer and control centre and a foreign currency bank with an exchange office. On the higher, materially structured floors, 44 flats for the bank's employees were located, together with community spaces. A large-capacity garage is located on the ground floor. By combining housing, work, services, static transport and community spaces into one building, the author fulfilled the idea of a mixed-use development in a central metropolitan area.
The distinctive material composition is emphasised by the combination of ceramic tiling with dark anodised aluminium parts of the façade. The architect is also the author of a three-metre high fountain with a brass sculpture, which was installed in the bank courtyard. In the 1990s, Karol Paluš also designed a large extension that would be connected to the existing building by an arcade. However, the extensionsion was not realised.
