The architect V. Karfík began to deal with the issue of the industrialization of housing construction at the beginning of the 1950s. Type BA, which he designed in 1955, was built in three months and became the first prefabricated residential house in Slovakia. The essence of the BA system was a combination of a prestressed frame and a thin wall. The prefabricated panel house is a six-storey building with two vertical cores. There are six two-room flats on a typical floor (three of them are accessible from each vertical core). The structural system transmits the load by transversal elements. Mounting joints between the panels are also acknowledged on the facade. The engine rooms of the elevators are pulled above the roof and connected by a roof on the pillars. The only manifestation of the time that liked to decorate, is the attic with inconspicuous ornaments and reliefs above the entrances. (The architect used them already in 1946 on three-storey residential houses in Zlín.)
